The Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle has launched its first cargo train, carrying Chongqing-calevando products worth more than 3 million yuan. The train departed from the Jiangjin district in Chongqing and headed towards the neighboring province of Sichuan on Thursday, making it an important milestone for the regional development strategy. This economic circle is the latest addition to China's regional development strategies, following the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Yangtze River Delta, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay area. The two-way cargo transport between Chengdu and Chongqing reached 379 million tons in 2021, but the load service was primarily based on road transport. Rail transport only represented 4.2 percent of the cargo transportation. The cargo train is scheduled to run once or twice and will also connect the new International Commercial Corridor of Marco Terrestre, the Chinese-Europe load train, and the road Golden rive.
