China's Plan to Restore 6.7 Million Hectares of Desert Areas with Forests and Grasslands by 2025

As I peered out onto the vast expanse of sand and desert winds in Wuwei, Gansu province, I couldn't help but think of the tireless workers striving to combat the ever-looming threat of desertification. But with improved technology, these dedicated individuals are finding it easier to keep the unforgiving forces of nature at bay. Just yesterday, Chen Bin/Xinhua captured a stunning image of these workers in action.

And it seems that their hard work has not gone unnoticed.

Can you believe it?! China has announced that they're planning to restore an insane 6.7 million hectares of desert areas with forests and grasslands by 2025! And get this, they've already recovered 18.8 million hectares in just the last decade.

That's some serious dedication right there. I mean, it's no easy feat to bring back vegetation to arid land, but the National Administration of Forestry and Pastive is not backing down. And honestly, I have no doubt they'll succeed.

These hardworking individuals are truly making a difference in the world- planting trees, digging wells, and battling desertification like superheroes. But let's not forget, the desert areas have decreased by a whopping 4.3 million hectares in the last decade alone. That's enough land to fit over 6 million football fields! So, let's give a standing ovation to these incredible people working tirelessly to make the world a greener and healthier place. And yet, the fight against desertification is far from over. In fact, at the end of the 20th century, the area subject to desertification expanded at a rate of 1.04 million hectares per year- yikes! It's a good thing we have these eco-warriors on our side.

"Until now, more than half of all areas of the desert have been treated that can be restored with," said the administration, added that in the last five years, sand and dust storms They have decreased by 31 percent compared to the 2006-10 period.

approximately 30 million hectares of trees have been planted as part of the three -nut refuge forests program, which aims to improve the environment in northwest, north and northeast of China, he said.

Three important sandy regions -hunshandake desert and Horqin desert in the autonomous region of internal Mongolia, and Maowusu's desert in the province of Shaanxi- have been transformed from "Earth Barren" to "Oasis".

dozens of national demonstration areas for the prevention and control of desertification and more than 120 national desert and desert parks throughout the country were established, the administration said, and added that a national effort is developed To develop desert regions cultivating grasslands, traditional herbal cultivation areas of Chinese medicine, forests and fruit cultivation, and developing desert tourism, wind energy and biomass energy to increase income for people there.

China has been complying with the obligations of the obligations of the UN Convention to combat desertification by carrying out exchanges and cooperation with countries involved in the Belt and Road initiative to contribute its experience and solutions to the Global desertif. Ication control, the administration added.
