Self Introduction

As a teacher and HoD with ample experience in a variety of international settings I am keenly aware that my teaching philosophy has to adapt to the needs of my students. It is essential to take into account the educational and cultural backgrounds of my students in order to fulfil these needs. Although my teaching approach is consistently dynamic, enthusiastic and based on empathizing with my students it has to be specific to the learning objectives of each group and environment. For example, when teaching in Portugal and England my students were studying math in their native language. This meant that linguistically they were at an advantage to my native Arabic and Spanish speakers studying in English. In order to compensate for the linguistic disadvantage, I have had to adapt my teaching style. This often means that I use a more visually based classroom approach, enabling my learners to process concepts at a visual level without further complicating clarifications with excess language processing. Further to the personalization of learning is the use of real life examples applied to academic math content.
