Freetown, July 23 (Xinhua) - The Parliament of Sierra Leone on Friday voted to abolish the death penalty in the country of West Africa.

Abass Chernor Bundu, speaker of Parliament, announced the abolition and elimination of the death penalty of Sierra Leone Books after a vote of unanimity.

The elimination and abolition of the death penalty was also a promise of manifesto made by the president of Sierra Leonean Julius Maada Bio, who is expected to sign the act of compliance

Sierra Leone performed its last execution of the death penalty in 1998. Enditem
