    Negotiators The UN has resumed the work in the text of the World Plan to protect nature and species for the next decade.

    The draft of the global biodiversity framework aims to preserve at least 30% of the world's lands and oceans.

    The Biological Diversity Convention (CBD) is a UN Treaty that has been ratified by 195 countries the European Union .

    During the last three decades, countries have agreed on a series of plans under the CBD to protect nature at a global level.

    More than a decade the negotiators agreed on targets to preserve plants and species, in the 2010-2020 decade.

    Negotiators are now, working on a new improved plan that would establish goals for the next decade and beyond.

    The draft of the new agreement has already been published and proposes 21 objectives. By 2030, including:

  • At least 30% of the land and seas should be kept through effective and managed measures equitably;
  • There must be a 50% or greater reduction in the introduction rate of invasive alien species, with controls to eliminate or reduce its impacts;
  • The nutrients lost to the environment must be reduced to the least half;
  • red Uce pesticide uses at least two thirds;
  • Eliminate the discharge of plastic waste;
  • The contribution of nature to global efforts to reduce greenhouse gases should be increased;
  • redirect or eliminate harmful incentives for biodiversity for at least $ 50ba year;

    The framework document had been due to the discussion between the Government Ministers at the largest conservation meeting in a decade in Kunming, China < P Class = "SSRCSS-1Q0X1QG-Paragraph EQ5IQO00"> The meeting, known as COP15, was defeated in October 2020, but it has been delayed three times due to the Covid pandemic.

    Now there will be a meeting of two parts, with the first element that is carried out virtually in October. The second part with two weeks of face-to-face meetings will meet next April in China.
